About

Whither the Humanities? Commentators continue to debate the value of an Arts degree, and more generally, the value of arts and humanities to society. These questions are all the more complex in the context of rapid changes in the relationships between universities, governments, employers and society. This blog, edited by Laura Servage (Research Coordinator, Arts Pedagogy Research and Innovation Laboratory, University of Alberta) explores teaching, learning and work in post-secondary education

The Arts Pedagogy Research and Innovation Laboratory (APRIL) is a research unit housed by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We areĀ dedicated to supporting, promoting, and highlighting great teaching in the Humanities, Social Science and Fine Arts. APRIL helps instructors and students alike to develop their knowledge, gifts and talents through creative teaching and learning.
